ABOUT
House of Taste is a family-owned Korean restaurant located in Fayetteville, AR. The brand’s identity was designed to bring forth the familiar warmth of house cooking and its role in relationship building and bonding experiences. Specifically, the goal of this project was to bring to life Korean culture through typography, imagery, and color palette, thus creating an immersive experience that is not only recognizable to Korean customers but introduce to non-Korean visitors the hearth of a Korean home.
The logo design highlights this experience by combining various symbols and imagery, including the Korean character for house (집 “jib”), the shape of a house, a ramyeon or simple food bowl, and a heart, all of which that comes together in creating a gleeful facial expression. This face ultimately becomes a character within the brand that is dressed in traditional Korean attire. The outline style of the logo is carried throughout the entire brand to create a sense of delicacy, subtlety, and coziness.
This was the first project in which I was challenged to create an animated logo for the brand utilizing After Effects with tools I was largely foreign with. The goal was to carry out the same delicacy and subtlety that exists throughout the entire brand identity. The final result is a simple linework animation incorporated with smooth transitions.
